The MSN protocol connects to its servers over the following ports:
- Chat port: 1863 (TCP)
- HTTP chat port: 80 (TCP)
- File transfer port: 6891-6900 (TCP)
- Phone: 2001-2120, 6801, 6901 (UDP)
- RTP: 5100
- Voice chat: 6901 (UDP, TCP)
- Whiteboard: 7800-7825 (TCP)
Known servers are:
- Pager server: messenger.hotmail.com
- HTTP method server: gateway.messenger.hotmail.com
